Leslie Wilson's childhood was relatively uneventful. She was raised by her single mother Lillian, and had next to nothing to do with her father, though he dutifully made child support payments. She was an athletic and outgoing girl in school, showing particular aptitude for baseball. Her aim was quite good from the beginning, and improved through years of playing little league baseball. By the time she was 14, she was playing in divisions two years higher than what girls her age typically played in and was the star pitcher of her team. Her father begrudgingly attended one of her baseball games at this point and immediately saw his daughter's potential when he watched her strike out every person on the other team. He persuaded her mother that a 14 year old girl like Leslie could benefit from taking martial arts for self defense. Not only did he enroll her in lessons with the best martial artists he knew, he also taught her himself once she had the basics down.
Over the next few years, Leslie's neighborhood became progressively more crime infested, until it was dominated by a nasty gang of metahumans. Her mother was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time during a clash between that gang and others, and died in the process.
Leslie, then 18, took her mother's death extremely badly. Pressured to stay in school by the university she was attending (she was on scholarship and the star of their women's baseball team), she finally cracked in the middle of a game. When a girl she disliked came up to bat, she aimed for her head and killed her instead of striking her out, then hightailed it back to her hometown of Philligan for revenge.
Leslie got a major butt-kicking from the metahuman gang she went after, only to be saved by her father. He told her about a super serum that he'd created that would enhance her abilities enough that she'd be able to get revenge and she readily took it. The transition from human to meta-human put her in a coma for two days, but when she recovered, she was stronger, faster, more agile, and her body healed much faster than a normal human's. Her revenge was swift and brutal.
After pointing out that her actions had made her a criminal and her chances for a "normal" future were slim, Leslie's father gently nudged her towards a mercenary career, training her personally and making her deadlier than ever. She took on the codename Sniper and has been in this occupation ever since.
